Chreos changes database to Firebird relational database

After many years of use Chreos has moved from using the BDE (Borland Database Enginee) and a Dbase database to a full Relational database.

After much investigation it was decided to use the Firebird Relational Database system. Firebird is an open source relational database offering ANSI SQL standard features. Firebird offers excellent concurrency, high performance and powerful language support for stored procedures and triggers. It has been used in production systems under a variety of names since 1984.

Firebird will both improve reliability and performance of Chreos. With Firebird at the backend Chreos can continue to grow in both performance and functionality.
