Chreos has always
supported fixed customer quotes. Using this system client orders
could be marked as 'quoted' (this can be a default) and when converted
these orders retained the price quoted even if the system or discounted
price had changed. This system is still available.
However for some businesses variable quoting is more appropriate.
In this system an order is still marked as 'quoted' however when
converted to packing slip or invoice a slightly different process
takes place. If the current system price (including discounts) is
equal to or greater than the quoted price, the client gets the price
quoted. However if the price of the item has come down the client
receives the current system price (including discounts) instead
of the original quoted price.
The option for
which quoting method to use is company wide and my be specified
in the 'Maintenance | Setup | System' screen in the 'Clients | General'
section. Ticking 'Orders - quotes may reduce' in the other section
turns on variable quoting.
